Irrigation and Cataract

چکیده
Iridectomy was performed in all but one of the first 65 cases, and in all but a very few of the last 65 cases. In the interval cases it was omitted when possible. The arguments for and against are familiar, but, in addition to the greater safety it affords, an iridectomy certainly facilitates efficient irrigation, and I now frequently do it secondarily, after the extraction of the lens, if a primary iridectomy is difficult, or too

Irrigation dynamic pressure-assisted hydrodissection during cataract surgery
The irrigation dynamic pressure-assisted hydrodissection technique (irrigation-hydro [iH]) does not require performing manual hydrodissection using a syringe and cannula to achieve cortical-capsular cleavage during cataract surgery. Since the iH technique uses the phaco tip to intentionally vacuum the intraocular fluid in order to induce the irrigation dynamic pressure for cortical-capsular cle...
متن کاملViscoless microincision cataract surgery
A cataract surgery technique is described in which incisions, continuous circular capsulorhexis and hydrodissection are made without the use of any viscoelastics. Two small incisions are created through which the different parts of the procedure can take place, maintaining a stable anterior chamber under continuous irrigation. Subsequent bimanual phacoemulsification can be done through these mi...

BACKGROUND/AIM Povidone-iodine (PI, Betadine) is routinely used as a preoperative topical antiseptic in cataract surgery as it has been shown to reduce the incidence of postoperative endophthalmitis. However, the concentration used clinically is variable. In vitro studies have shown that PI is paradoxically more effective at lower concentration. This study was undertaken to determine if this ef...
متن کاملIntraocular adrenaline maintains mydriasis during cataract surgery.
Cataract surgery is performed more easily if mydriasis can be maintained until the intraocular lens has been inserted. Intraocular irrigation with adrenaline is thought to be of benefit in this respect, and is used by some surgeons but not others. This prospective double blind controlled trial assessed the efficacy and safety of using perioperative adrenaline during extracapsular cataract surge...
